      Hi everybody,
maybe my question will result stupid...but i've actually just downloaded the free sketchup version, and i've been trying to import a 3d autocad 2008 file 1000 times...
Now what happens is that anytime sketchup load it, i try to assign textures to the different bodies/3d's the program colors the whole structure, and it makes no differences if i turn off layers or try to assign it on different files. IT ALWAYS TAKE THE WHOLE MODEL.
I verified the presence of blocks or any other anomalty but everything is ok, the only way to paint object i found is to model directly into sketchup: like this, the brush tool is able to paint different faces step by step..
Is there anybody that can help me please?
I puntualize that i've always used this process(importing cad files) with older sketchup versions and it has always worked, as in 3d studio max
      Thanks a lot πŸ˜„

        Idro,

Your CAD import is most probably coming through to SU as a group or component. When painting these "from outside" of their context they will result to receive the material / colour as a whole.

Thus you need either to explode them first or edit them (double click) to be able to access the geometry inside their context.

        Gai...

that's my first idea too... that it's a group you are painting instead of a face...

right click on the model... open or explode.
