Bevel edges
-
If I post the first "wish" here, will it come true?
Iwould like to have a "bevel edge" feature.
Since almost everything in the world has a beveled edge to some degree, it would be nice if Sketchup could create them for us.
I have a ruby that chamfers edges, it works correctly about 50% of the time. but it's only chamfer, and not curved.
and "follow me" can sometimes work if not to complex, but it's not very accurate when it changes directions. and it's a pain to set up the face of the bevelI would like to "highlight" all the edges I want beveled.
click a "bevel tool"
input the "depth" [like 1/4 inch]
input the "number of edges" [like in arc tool]
and viola! beveled edges!!please grant thy wish oh google master.

+1 on your request

yup! this would definitely help in rendering closeup of furnitures and stuff...
i am actually surprised the ruby gurus havent gotten into doin this... or is this even possible??? -
Jenu, you could use bevelling in Kerky if it were possible at this stage!
Bevelling in a complex model would extremely raise the polycount. Still of course in certain situations it could be nice (with smaller, finer models/fetails).However we have to admit that this is mainly an architectural program and architects do not plan buildings with bevelled edges.
Still a nice wish (it's on Tomasz' list as well)

Gai,
yup! KT has bevel edge option.. but only if u export it via obj or 3ds... which to be frank... is a pain! textures rarely come out right!! and cam settings are not saved in obj or 3ds!
wish it was enabled with su2kt!!! -
Yeah, I know the 3ds pains (have been experimenting with them). UV maps are just exploded and texturing is almost impossible (OR you keep the UV maps but lose softened edges and then the soften command don't work from Kerky).
Well, I hope Tomasz will find out ways - as well as for section cuts.
