SketchUcation Extension Manager Not Showing Updates Needed
-
When I start SketchUp 2025, I see that there are 2 Fredo6 extensions that need to be updated but when I click on the SketchUcation Extension Store icon, it says that all of my extensions are up to date. Why am I not seeing that the 2 extensions need to be updated?

Did you install those extensions using the Sketchucation Extension Store tool or did you download them directly and install them or did you copy them from a previous SketchUp installation? Unless you use the Extension Store to install them the Extension Store tool won't keep track of whether or not they need to be updated.

I had originally installed the in 2024 via the bundles facility via SketchUcation.
I copied them into 2025 from 2024. So, what is the best way to track updates?
I am beginning to have some negative feelings about some these βnew featuresβ in 2025.

The general advice has always been to not copy extensions from an older version to a new one. There are some extensions that need to be installed properly using their installers. And often extensions require updates to work in a new version of SketchUp. This is not specific to SketchUp 2025.
Did you manually copy the extensions or did you use the new extension migrator?
At this point I would just go into the Sketchucation Tool in SU2025 and go to your Bundle and install the 2024 bunudle with the most current versions of the extensions. That will generate a new bundle of extensions for SketchUp 2025 for the next time you need to install extensions.
FWIW, the Sketchucation Extension Store tool will indicate there are updates when it's been used to install the extension in the first place. Evidence from a minute ago:

Yes, that is what I did. π€ͺ

That is what I am going to do.

For anyone else who comes along:
The new migrator copies the extensions from the previous SketchUp installation. If you haven't stayed on top of keeping extensions updated or if extensions required updates for the new SketchUp version you will still need to go and track those down. And for extensions that have their own installers, most likely you can expect those extensions to fail to load and you'll need to install them correctly.
Even if you use the migrator, the very next step regarding extensions from Sketchucation should be to open the Sketchucation Extension Store tool and install the bundle to make sure you have the latest versions of extensions from here. That will also allow the tool to alert you when there are extensions that need to be updated and it will create a new bundle for later use on other machines or for the next major release.
And don't get lazy about keeping extensions up to date. The authors do their best to keep them updated. The least you can do is take advantage of their updates.
