Long time 2017 Pro user, should I upgrade?
-
I've been using 2017 Pro (perpetual) for since its release (and older versions previously).
Couple of Q's
- Is it worth moving to a ne Pro subscription?
- Are the new tools worth it? (as i'm sure everyone does, I use a plethora of plugins anyway).
- Are the newer rereleases faster/more stable when working with more complex geometry?
Would like to hear some of your thoughts and recommendations.
Thanks.

If your pocket can take the it I think it is worth the investment. The more that move to a paid plan will extend the lifetime of the product. I'd prefer a LTS type(Long Term Support) plan where I get to skip versions but you can't always get want you want.

Tools have quality of life improvements. Seasoned pros have mixed reactions to these changes. Personally Lasoo Select is not something I use.

Stable yes. Faster not so much but considering you're on 2017 you'll probably notice more than me. Still can take time to process dense geometry. But crashes are less frequent. Mainly extensions are the source of crashes rather than the app itself.
Can you not trial it ?

Thanks Rich, that's really helpful.
I will most likely trial it, but wanted to get some feedback from users just to see what to expect. I've been putting off upgrading for years as 2017 still works fine, but I fear support will soon be gone and plugins will stop working. Plus a little extra stability and speed would be much apricated.

Definitely trial it if you can.
The Pro plan is less than a $1 a day and it includes LayOut.

Although that table is rather vague on whether LayOut is included or not.
