Creating Permit Plans 2D vs 3D
-
Hi,
I am using SketchUp and Layout to creating permit plans for the City, I have done both:
- Created everything in 2D, wich makes it very easy to save a scene and show it in layout
- Created a 3D model, which needs the extra step of some settings to show it correct in the scene and then transfer it to Layout
I can't decide which workflow makes more sense for me, and which of the approach is easier to work with when it comes to changes to the model.
which of these two options are you using?
Thanks

Personally I think a 3D model makes more sense. With your 2D drawings you have to manage changes in multiple places within the drawings. With a 3D model you only need to make a change in one place and any view of the model that would be affected will reflect that change automatically.
It should not be a difficult thing to set up your scenes correctly. Are you still using SketchUp 2014 as indicated in your profile or are you up to date with SketchUp 2022?

Looks like I need to update my profile. I am on 2021 I think. I didn't update to 2022 yet.
Thanks. I think that is what I should try to streamline things....
