Importing 3d model
-
Hi!
I'm a reasonable experienced user, but I do not understand something about importing from other places but the 3D-Warehouse.
For instance: I import a 3d from a furniture brand, in this case EDRA, I get a .3ds file, an .obj file, and an .stl file.
I can import all 3 with fluid.
The subject is a chair which I would like to use, it's called ELLA, I will attach a picture of this.
After importing I see a white chair, with all 3 files. The picture I attached shows it has many colors.
Does that mean the producer didn't include a texture?
I also downloade the chair at 3dsky, it is shown with transparent colors on their site, but here I get a total black chair.
I don't see any textures added in the downloads.
What am I doing wrong?

I can confirm that the textures are NOT included in the download, you need to find one and add it yourself.
I did a quick search and found something similar.I used this:
Here is the model if you need it:
You will need a render engine for the glass to show, I used Thea 1.5 for this render.

Also worth turning off edges - and seeing whether the chair is actually painted black, or whether it’s made up of millions of tiny lines (which quite possibly is the case!). Also keep an eye on file sizes. From previous experience, importing other file types leads to crazy high file sizes.
View > Edge Style > Edges
View > Edge Style > Profiles -
The coloration of the chair is probably setup as a refractive material in the Max file. This will not come into SketchUp, so the above texture is a clever trick.
