Monitor Cables

So, I'm going from a 22" to a 32" monitor, set it up on my desk, it's huge! Hooked the diff cables up, went to plug the monitor cable in to the computer, and they're different sizes? What do I need to make this work?

An adapter and/or gpu card that has compatible socket.
Monitors tend to come with a lot of cable options so its find the right combo.

adapter sounds easier, how do I measure these things?

Take a photo of the PC sockets and the monitor sockets then go to nearby elec store and get the male to female ends you need.
