Here we go, jumping way out of my comfort zone and sharing a little bit of my work. I am an avid Lurker reading through posts, browsing the incredible work that is posted by everyone and constantly picking up new tips, tricks and resources. As a sign designer, one of the best ways to show the client the dimension, scale or lighting of a sign is through SU. One downfall is the very short turnaround time for most of these projects. For the most part, I can only afford to spend 3-4 hours in SU which is why the backgrounds and landscaping all appear pretty similar. The nice part is that I can get it all set up & let Twilight burn overnight. Wow was that longwinded. Anyway, I hope you enjoy and if you don't hear from me, don't worry, I'll still be lurking and learning.

As you say, this is a great way to show the client just what your product will look like. These look well modeled and nicely rendered! Could be effective for architectural review committees as well. Thanks for sharing!

        Nice work.

You should post these on the Twilight forum as well. They have a good support team and can probably help you reduce the render time. From what I see, it is the foliage that is slowing down the render time but that is only a guess on my part.

Again, the signs look really good. IMO πŸ‘ πŸ‘

I also have long render times, It depends on your system and what you are willing to work with. Dave has a good point. For your images, you might try the "Tree lines" offered here in the store which are backdrops, then you only need some 2d or 3d trees and plants closer in. The tree lines take some memory but not as much as 3d trees. then one can also add backgrounds in post production or as an HDRI, but then you could be adding more work for yourself, depending on your experience.

Thank you all for the kind words. It means a lot coming from a great SU community.

I tend to go straight from SU/Twilight without any post production. I do use the curved tree lines in the background and mixing in freestanding trees for some depth. The long render times usually pop up when I turn on the lights for the night views. Also, depending on the client, some of these get printed on poster size presentations.

OK, I understand the longer render times when you turn on the lights. πŸ˜„

Still think that Fletch on the Twilight Render forum might be able to come up with some suggestion. He gives really good advice over there (not saying there is a thing wrong with this forum or its participants, just saying he comes up with really helpful techniques when using TR).

Can you guys enlighten me about the tree liners you are referencing. I think I know but just want to make sure I am not missing something. πŸ˜„

Again, I think your models/renders are very good and I am sure they get good responses from your clients. πŸ‘
Was just trying to see if there was a way to speed up the process a little. πŸ˜„

Excellent work! And I say that as some that used to work as a sign designer at one time.
