Export selection to STL not possible any more?

the export to STL seems to have changed in version 2021:

If you only want to export one group as STL, then it is no longer enough to just select the solid group, the corresponding tag must also be activated, otherwise nothing will be exported, which is pretty confusing if nothing happens.
In version 2020 any tag could be active and the selected group was simply exported, no matter on which tag is located.
In version 2021 I now cannot export two solid groups which are on different tags any more.
Is there any way to handle this, without changing the tags of each selected group just for the export?

(not easy to explain - I filmed this, but the size is 80mb?)

Good catch. I can reproduce that. I expect it's a regression in the exporter code.

There's a bug report filed on this.

hi, i have a similar problem but worse, i can only export models when the "only export selected object" box is not ticked.. it will only export the whole model.. when ticked,
it actually produces a file of 0kb in my recent files in explorer but it doesnt appear in the destination..

though i dont understand because i didnt do that before.. i didnt upgrade or anything.. im on sketchup pro 2021, windows 10.

As I wrote previously there is a bug in the code for SU2021. Hopefully it'll be fixed in the next maintenance release.

You can install the stl import export tool from the extension warehouse, the one created by the sketchup team, and that will export correctly. Once installed look for a different export option in the file menu.
