Embedded video / embed video / image animator
-
Hi everyone,
My name is Billie, and I'm an exhibition designer from New Zealand. I want to create vray animations in sketchup with embedded video.
In my rendered video, I want a camera view transition that is panning across, while a "video" or gif or similar media plays in the background. Is this too tall an order for sketchup?
Im using sketchup pro 2017 with V-Ray. Super keen to use Chaos Cloud for the animated render because it is a huge time saver.
Regarding the embedded media:
I have tried the "Photo Textures" plugin (comes up as "image animator" tool in the user interface) but unfortunately it doesn't produce the desired results. While the playback in the sketchup interface is smooth(ish), I cant get it to export smoothly! Heres where I'm running into trouble:-
When I export a simple unrendered MP4 animation straight out of sketchups (no vray), the motion of the panning scene transition somehow toggles the image sequence in the Image Animator... so that it comes out all janggly. link to video here: https://youtu.be/ftlsD6CPi4I

When I try and export a rendered animation through v-ray, the V-ray Asset Editor usually stops responding and crashes. While this is happening, I'm keeping an eye on my computers performance: the CPU,GPU and RAM are all well under 50% utility. Still, pressing the play button on the image animator, and THEN initiating the Vray Asset Editor seems to crash sketchup.
My model file is 100MB in size - maybe its too big a file for this task..?
Does anyone have any ideas how to produce this effect with another plugin?
Or even another workflow? I'm open to the possibility of a green-screen workflow, where instead of importing an image, I colour the screen component in sketchup a nominated bright colour. I export the rendered video through v-ray. And then I somehow transpose the desired video onto the nominated colour in post production.
I am using Final Cut pro to edit my sketchup+vray exported animations. Maybe there is a greenscreen file path to utilize there.
Many thanks,
Billie

Tig had created a plugin ages ago. Not sure if it still works or not, but you can check it out. Here is a link to the thread.

Hi rspierenburg,
Thanks for your comment. This is the plugin I am using at the moment.
I was wondering if there might be something else less glitchy.
