Hi There, I have a couple projects coming up where I have to provide a driveway section along predicted vehicle path to ensure the transitions are complying. In the past I have created this manually by measuring the distances between contours along the irregular path and then unwrapping it into a straight line section...(hours of endless fun ๐Ÿ˜  ). Is there a way of doing the same in Sketchup but but much quicker... with plugins/ workarounds etc.?

I guess whats needed is a quick way to produce a section cut along an irregular path and then straighten it up in side view representing the true length of the section cut.

See Picture for end result desired...

      Any suggestions welcome

      Thanks
      David

      Old way of doing it....

A curved section cut seems like a good solution for what you want to do. Unfortunately that's not something SketchUp can do. My first inclination would be to draw the curve in plan view and extrude it through the driveway. There's an extension or two that will extrude an edge but you could also just create a closed shape including that curve and use Push/Pull to push it through the driveway. Then Intersect Faces and use the Flattery extension to flatten the curved surface out.

I hope that suggestion works for you. I forgot to make a couple of screens hots that would have helped. I hope you got the idea well enough, though.
