      Hi,

      I'm working on one project and want to use a pouf design I found online. It is quite a simple shape generally, but making it in Sketchup has some challenges. I don't want to make it just a cube, I would like it to be a bit more realistic, have some random bumps, dents, creases, etc. How could I achieve this? Maybe there is a plugin that I don't know about that could help? Or a good tutorial?

          No expert on this, but (since there's few responses) I thought I'd mention Eneroth Eroder plugin, perhaps to add some randomness to the rough shape before softening.

            Agree with L i am and pbacot on this type of stuff. SubD, Quadface Tools and Vertex Tools or Artisan are the plugins to help you. Also if a good texture image can be used it will make modeling a lot easier. Trying to physically replicate the ribbed texture of the fabric will greatly increase difficulty level and might not be necessary if the pillow is not right in your face.

            Also have a look at forum member alvis's thread.... a true master at this type of modeling...

              Can do that with ClothWorks too!
              Soft Box.png

              Steps:

              1. Draw a box and group it.
              2. Assign a cloth property: (Context Menu) ClothWorks -> Make Cloth
              3. Apply adaptive grid with desired spacing: (Context Menu) ClothWorks -> 1 Cloth -> Apply Adaptive Grid
              4. Set stretch to 0.09 and bend to 0.25 via ClothWorks UI.
              5. Set gravity to -1.
              6. Draw a rectangle beneath the box and set it shape to collider.
              7. Simulate. Use drag tool to deform at desired places.
              8. Stop when the box settles over the rectangle.
              9. Make use of the toggle drape feature to apply material.
