As I use SketchUp professionally, I tend to upgrade at a later cycle than most to ensure things run smoothly.

Has SketchUp 2019 had its first update yet? Or is it still the same initial launch version?

And has it been fairly flawless? Or are there any obvious annoying bugs?

There hasn't been a maintenance release yet but I've used it almost every day since release and haven't had any problems with it. The issues I have seen reported mostly stem from problems related to integrated graphics adapters and broken drivers (graphics drivers for integrated Intel GPUs that are pushed in automatic Windows updates are notorious for being bad) incorrect installation on Windows machines, and extension load errors due to users copying extensions from older installations.

Well...the most annoying thing is that they are trying to force us to go into subscription.
And hiding away the permanent license where barely anyone can see it.

Thanks - I'm on a Mac and things tend to be fairly flawless driver wise as everything is done within the Apple updates themselves - so hopefully that shouldn't be an issue for me.

I think I'll give it a go then!

Pixero: I guess this makes sense as it means new people can join SketchUp for a much cheaper entry price (even though they pay more in the long run). I purchase my maintenance from a reseller and there's no difference in how I upgrade my maintenance this year.

If you've been keeping up with your annual maintenance and support, it doesn't matter because you would get the Classic license anyway. They've only added another option for new commercial SketchUp users to get into SketchUp.

A few years before I retired from my last job I got a SketchUp Pro license to use at work. Due to the price and the way my employer's purchasing system was set up, I had to go through a process to get a purchase order created and an account established with Trimble before I could get the license. If the subscription option had been available I could have paid for it with my corporate credit card. Instead of taking several days and involving several different people in Purchasing (which added to the cost of the license) I could have had the license within a minute or two of completing the form on the SketchUp site and the corporate credit card bill would have been paid automatically.
