File is currently locked by another user

having issues opening my skp files. I get this message-
'the file is currently locked by another user. do you wish to open this file as read only?'
I remember this happening before but forget what the solution was and the Search here doesn't give me any results.

am also getting this 'exception' message when saving a model I already had open.

Where are you opening the file from? CFileException 5 means Access Denied implying a permissions issue. That is, the file is locked up so that autosaves can't be written to it. You might just save it using Save as... into a new location and proceed from there.

I'm opening them from inside a folder as I always do.

Is that folder in a write protected location, though?

....Do you have the preview pane open in that folder?

what do you mean by preview pane Box?
not sure what you mean Dave but they're just in various folders in My Docs with no protection that I know of.
So, I restarted the machine and it isn't happening any more fingers crossed.
