Sketchup 2014 or 2017 -push/pull tool just moves surfaces

Hi guys
I am really pissed of by this issue that has stopped me from doing any work for the last 10 days...
All of a sudden my Sketchup Pro 2014 started acting crazy... when I select the bucket the cursor turns into a pipette (color pick up tool) when I try to use the push/pull tool that just moves the surface that I am trying to push or pullHere is a link to what has been done so far https://forums.sketchup.com/t/push-pull-just-moves-the-surface/8385/23
I am out of ideas so here I am asking for suggestions.-I tried reinstalling the video drivers
-I tried reinstalling or using a different mouse/keyboard
-I checked the keyboard to make sure no key like Alt is stuck
-I tried to install SKUP 2017 (trial) -same issue thereAny suggestion will be greatly appreciated

giving this a bump before I remove Sketchup from my system and look for an alternative

So this only just started happening a few days ago? But not before? SketchUp 2014 wouldn't have suddenly changed so you need to look at what on your computer has changed.
