Advance use of drape tool

Hi,
I have a terrain generate by TopoShaper amd I want project items on it.
I can use Drape tool from Sandbox toolbar but in this way the projection is part of terrain (drape tool add mesh on terrain. I need have the projection as separate object and show/hide it on terrain.Is there a way or a plugin for it?

I don't know about a plugin but i think you can just double click the face inside to select related geometry and Ctrl+Move upwards to make a copy, then make it group and move downwards. Then you can hide/unhide the group as you wish. (Also you can delete the geometry (edges created) on terrain mesh)
