How to impress pattern on a sphere

    hi everybody.

    I'd like to know if there is any way to impress or print a pattern around a sphere.
    the result i'm looking for is getting some edges on the sphere that represent a pattern and then I can manipulate it, the pattern could be a simple wave that respeats.

      one method would be similar to how automobile modelers do wheels and tires with tread. that is, if you need the detail as edges and faces. if you do not need that, then it would be better to use a texture representing repetitive wave effect. look on you tube, for instance, to see the modeling of tires with treads.

      I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

        I'm looking for something like this, but it has to continue around all the sphere, doing this way each arc doesn't touch each other.

          Rotate/copy should do the trick.
