Pointing to components library
-
Greetings! I can't get the Components window of my Default Tray to point to my components library. I have set the components folder location correctly in Window/Preferences. I can Import from that folder. In Sketchup Preferences, when I click on the printer symbol for Components, I get a correct listing of all the components in the folder. But when I select
"Components" in the tray sidebar, no files are listed. What am I doing wrong? -
Have you added your custom components folder to the favorites list in the Components window?
What version of SketchUp are you using? Did you installed it correctly using Run as administrator in the menu that opens when you right click on the installer file?

No, and I don't know how to do this. Above the "Favorites" sections is the following list: In Model, Components, My Models, My Collections. I have set the address for "Components" to the folder that contains my components, but it doesn't work.
What version of SketchUp are you using?
Version 17.2.2555 64-bit.

Don't remember. I think I double-clicked on the installer file and let it run.

Click on the Details menu icon to the right of the drop down list box and use Open or Create a Collection. After opening your custom components library, go to that same menu and choose Add to Favorites.

Then SketchUp is not installed correctly. It may not be related to this but incorrect installation creates weird problems. It would be a good idea to repair the installation by finding the installer file, right clicking and choosing Run as administrator. Then choose the Repair option when the choice presents itself.

Dave R,
Fixed it. Thanks.

What exactly did you do?

Confusing that it was necessary to point to the components folder (that Sketchup created and saved the drawings to by default, but this solved my problem.
Thanks

If you are using the default location for the components and add your components subfolders to it, those folders should show up automatically when you next start SketchUp.
