I believe Rich does too, including Affinity Designer (or whatever it is called) for vector graphics.

I have both Affinity Designer and Photo for both Mac and Windows. They are superb.
Sure they don't have ALL the features the Adobe apps got but they are very young software and even now a joy to work with.
However, being a longtime Photoshop user (since v.2) plus that the company I work for have the Adobe CC suite, I haven't abandoned Adobe...yet.
If and when Designer gets dwg import and export I'll ditch Illustrator in a flash. Can't stand it.
Affinity Designer is much more like good old Macromedia Freehand.
Then when their "Publisher" layout app comes and they have a full suite of tools they will be a serious competitor to Adobe.Plus that they choose not to do a subscription based software these days deserves big cred... and my money...

Affinity is the Sketchup of toshopillustrator!
If you want a free one try Gravit Designer (online & local)

I use both Photo and Designer.
Great alternatives to Adobe tools.

Thanks, I appreciate the reviews.

I used to have them when my old job paid for everything... but now with Creative Cloud! Lots of clients require .INDD or .PSD so no choice really, industry typecast I still use gimp and also Sketch is becoming a lot more popular.
EDIT: sorry mis-read. I have used the tablet version and its really the best, but I figured you meant the desktop version hence saying using CC/Sketch. But yes on iPad did find this to be cool, we had a Beta version. I also like Procreate but depends on how far you need to go and you really need the iPad pro and pencil https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/procreate-sketch-paint-create/id425073498?mt=8
