SimLab Composer 8 - Experiance/Comments
-
I have the trial version of SimLab Composer 8 for a couple of more weeks and was wondering if anyone else has any experience/comments about it that they would like to share.
Yes, there is another thread about the VR capabilities but so far I have found some things I think kind of interesting that are overlooked in the VR thread:
- You can create interactive 3D PDF files
- You can create interactive 3D WebGL files
- It has animation capabilities that are very much like both Animator and MS Physics
- There is some support (not had much experience with it yet) for animated textures
- It includes a number of "add on" object libraries that you can use in your model
- There is a fairly extensive set of material libraries
- There are texture baking capabilities (I have not fully figured that part out yet)
- There is a rendering engine. In fact, the product uses the Unreal Engine (for everything, think)
- The ShowRoom feature looks pretty neat
- As mentioned in the VR thread, you can generate VR scenes that can be viewed both with a VR device and with their Desktop Viewer
- Price seems pretty reasonable.
OK - this is just my take on what I am seeing but it would really be interesting to hear from others.

I have an older version which I use to create 3d-pdf's but mostly to convert obj files to skp.
Works great. -
My trial is expiring so I just put a post in their forum about my experience during the trial. You can view it here: Simlab Trial
