SU & Windows 10 Current State of Play
-
Hi Everyone,
So Windows 10 has been out for a while now and I'm considering "upgrading" from Windows 7.
How does everyone feel about W10? I've seen some threads reporting bugs, so I'm curious as to what the current consensus is, especially if using Podium or Thea.
Thanks!

What version of SketchUp are you using? (Your profile isn't complete.) Some users have reported issues with what turns out to be bad security updates that Microsoft automatically pushed as well as some issue with Intel GPU drivers.
I've been using Windows 10 for a long time now and haven't seen any of those problems, though. YMMV.

Thanks Dave - I'm using SU16 Pro!
I guess issues with intel GPU drivers would be mitigated if one were using an nvidia card? Hmm, guess I'm going to do some testing.
How are you finding W10 in day to day terms? Did it take a lot of adjustment or do you sometimes miss the old way of doing things?
Thanks for your time!

True. Still, make sure drivers are up to date.

No. It was pretty smooth. Truth is, I'd been using Win 7 and one morning I discovered Win 10 had been installed and was active without my OK. Not a nice thing to discover while waiting for your coffee to brew. It turned out to be OK. Probably the worst part is the dumbing down of the interface. I think they are trying to make it more difficult for users to get in and screw things up. Probably good for most users, though.

Like Dave, one morning I was unpleasantly surprised with Windows automatically installing Windows 10 (I credit it to a co worker who came in early, started my computer, and hit "yes" when prompted). Once installed, I didn't notice any problems running my programs. Windows 10 itself was a little bit different from 7, enough to be annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it to the point I think I will now install 10 on my home computer. There was an early security update that messed up our network settings, and they replaced Internet Explorer with Windows Edge, which I am not too crazy about.
