Warehouse models are not labeled

A model created in a newer version cannot be opened with older versions. Is that correct?
The warehouse does not tell us what version the models are from. Can this be a problem? -
Uploaded SKP files get converted automatically so they can be downloaded for older versions but effective at the beginning of this year, they are no longer making files for versions older than SU2014.
