Vray crashes or freezes

Hi all
I have just installed a trial of v-ray on my mac and the thing just wont work.
Either it gives me a bug splat or the spinning wheel of death rotates endlessly.
Please see attached a pic of the activity monitor with the freeze.
I am running sketchup pro 2017 version 17.2.2554
I have 64GB ram and a 4gb graphics card
The SKP is 4.9MB
