    Hello -
I'm fairly new to sketchup but newer still to this forum. I have just recently figured out out how to make a simple dynamic component. It seemed to be working fine, all the formulas work and it scales correctly. The problem arouse when I saved it and opened sketchup later in the same day. When I pulled my DC into my model and opened the component options window, the option that I had there when I created it now reads that I have no options for this component. The fix I tried was to explode the component, which seemed to work because once I did that my option showed back up as well as the formulas and attributes in the component attribute window (which also weren't there upon the initial reopening). Does any one know why this might be happening.

This is due to the way you saved the component and then imported it. When you imported the component into your new model, it was essentially double wrapped and the outer wrapper is not dynamic. You could see that if you import the component into another file and look at it in Outliner.

Instead of using saving it with File>save and importing it, right click on the component and use Save as... Then save it to a directory you can use for a local collection. When you want to use the component, go to the Components window, select that local collection and drag the component in from there. To make the local collection available in the Components window, click on the Details menu and choose Add collection to favorites.
