Layout scale change

When I send my sketchup model to layout, I select a template in this case 11x17, and use the 1/8" scale to create my construction drawings. I do this because I like the smaller dwgs to obtain pricing info. However, when it is time for field dwgs, I would like them to be at 1/4" scale and on larger paper. My question is, can this be done and if so, how. I can change the scale of the viewport to 1/4", but the dimensions do not change. Is it possible to do a global scale change and print to a larger paper size?

The dimensions should change size with the SU reference but while they are still selected you must change the scale in the dimension dialog.

Hi Jerry,

Two options to consider here. First is to update to SketchUp/LayOut 2017. dimensions are tied to the model so when you change the scale of the viewport (or make edits to the SketchUp model) the dimensions will follow along and update accordingly. There are many benefits to this.

Another thing you might consider is to just make the larger drawings from the start. Export to PDF and print on the smaller paper. That would save you the effort of resizing all your viewports and moving stuff around. I do this with LO2017, too.

As always expected Dave is on the Money here, (sorry about the metric reference) - I'll do an A1 drawing and mark it with Scale: 1:100 @ A1 / 1:200 @ A3 or 1:50 @ A1 / 1:100 @ A3. Then however the plans are printed the scale is relevant to the page size. Not sure if can be applied to freaky US paper sizes and scales. BTW, I'm so sorry you guys have to deal with this stuff, America will never be "great" until they get with the program!

I usually find that the scale of text and other graphic elements usually relevant for a D size drawing is not going to work for 11x17 or smaller presentation.

I also usually find that things are so different by the time I get from small format presentations to the working drawings this is a moot point. Dimensions needed for preliminary presentations are minimal in my approach, and may not even be the same information as wanted as for working drawings (overall height of the building vs. framing heights etc.). What I keep trying to do is create stationary that can be used on new SU models. So ideally a small scale and a large scale stationary will be available, Just reference the new project model.. adjust the model references to the size of the new building etc. Titles are ready, etc. and time is saved this way instead of blowing things up and down.
