Another Colonial Period Piece
-
Here's another SketchUp practice piece. A pine tavern table dated to 1720.
I made a few textures from some nice wide pine boards that are appropriate to the period this table would have been made originally. -
Shame to see such a fine piece in such tatty surroundings...
Nice render though.

It's sort of warehouse chic.
Thanks Rich.

Getting pretty daring with those textures! One of your best renders.
Best,

Thank you, sir.

great table, heck great background textures
-
Thank you, sir. The background brick is the side of an old building I photographed in a very small town in southern Iowa. I need to spend more time looking for those sorts of shots.

I can't see that thin top with that much cantilever surviving in your average tavern, at least not the ones I go to. Be alright in a tea room I s'pose.
Also, imho, needs a bit of softening on the sharp edges, makes a world of difference to the realism of the render. -
As is typical of many styles of furniture, the top is beveled on the underside to make it appear lighter than it is. The top is also strengthened with a cleat on the underside.
As for softening the edges, you're right. It would add to the realism. Not a high priority for me, however.
