[Req] Component Picker
-
Hi guys,
I got something simple this time (I think).
What about having a component picker that would work as the material picker.
Picking a component on screen would activate it in the component browser, we could then edit it's properties or simply find it there on the list. It would be as picking a material on screen with the eyedropper wich activates the material in the material editor and it would be specially useful on complex models with many unique but similar components.
I don't know if it would be rightfully called a component eyedropper or, if it would be more like cirurgical tweezers but here goes nothing:
Thanks!

Did you ever think about trying to write code yourself? Sure, iT takes time, especially when just starting, but it was one of the best decisions i ever made. You can create something that perfectly fits your needs and which Will boost your workflow / joy.

I've thought about it and actually I've started studying ruby, but that's not where my life has lead me since then. I take great joy in what I do already and I could take even more joy from it if I learnt to code but I cannot stretch myself anymore... this is not unfortunate, I'm focusing on other stuff I love.
But there are people who love coding, they sometimes feel curious about achieving this kind of stuff... If there is a chance someone interests in this then two people will be happy, if not, no people will be unhappy!
Thanks for your interest, but there's just so much to do in so little time...

I think this could be kind of a cool thing. It would be even better if it was included in the Components window in a similar way to the one in the Materials window on Windows.

So true. I only write code in the downtime of my architecture business. Its just prototype code. Making proper plugins out of that code would greatly increase the coding time so probably Will never happen. I tried iT once and No succes. Hats of though to the people who can and do.
