Correct way to make a curved face
-
I want to make this curved lathed face (I guess the word is correct), I watched a several lathe creation videos etc on youtube, but, no success creating this one. the distance between curves are identical, dimensions are same, still sketchup don't create the curved face automatically .. it's frustrating when it doesn't draw how you want it, I spend all day to find a way, but no success.
I still tried to draw lines horizontally to fill up the face, but it has so many edges and sometimes it doesn't fill up as you can see in the following picture
then I drew lines diagonally as well, then it all filled up (a sign of non-parrellel curve lines? but the curves are identical)
and I did soften/smooth faces command then, it looks ok, but still has small amount of edges
can somebody tell me is there any other correct way to make a curved face like this, without edges or with minimum edges?

I would approach it differently. Draw a "cutter" and extrude it through the corner. Intersect the faces of the cutter with the column. Erase the unneeded edges and faces.
At the end of the animation I held Ctrl while clicking on the edge with the Eraser tool to soften the edge. -
Pilou's motto: "Why use a native tool when a plugin will do?"
What Pilou neglects to show is that the surface will be a group. In order to join it with the rest of the geometry, you'll have to explode the group.

Another way!
Of course you can select the edges in a one "single rectangular" precise selection
from Left to Right for accelerate the process!

So Explode = Right Click on Selected / Contextual Menu : Explode = an alf Second!

Thank you Dave R for the better solution ..
Thank you pilou for the pluggin
