Dividing a child's room
-
In this case a childs room should be devided for two children. The space should be flexible to use as a playground and a shelf to store the items and give privacy to the children.

That mate, is SERIOUSLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!
Is there likely and issue with the lateral stability of the shelving when extended out fully? Would a simple channel embedded into the ceiling and a guide on the top of the cabinet help with this?
Id just worry about kids climbing up to reach upper shelves, and this risk of this falling.
And would a central panel in the shelves (vertically) give better privacy for when the kids need it as getting older?

Finished!
these are real photos

This could also be an interesting concept for dividing office space either in a home or office.
-
pretty cool concept I can see mom asking big brother. "where's your little brother", big brother scuffs foot on ground replies "in the wall"

That´s Great!
a proof that a well done simulation and reality match!btw, this is a great piece of furniture and obviously you have a good carpenter...

Very nice! What does it run on? Are there wheels underneath?
What provides the lateral stiffness to the book case to prevent it from racking when it is being moved?

I was just about to ask those same questions Master Dave!
Racking would be my concern, as well as some restraint at the top when extended out.
How did this feel in the end mate when completed.

my carpenter took rools underneith the lower board and a brake inside the wall to stop the shelf. it is not possible to roll it completely out, to prevent wedging.

here's a new video of the finished project:
