Learning to use Sketchup.
-
Hi, folks. Could someone guide me to some comprehensive Sketchup tutorials/guides, mainly for construction of residential structures, houses, sheds and the like. I know there's a lot of stuff out there, which makes it difficult to know where to start. Plus it seems there's a lot of "Sketchy" guides too.
So I'm looking for something that starts with the basics and works it's way into the more complex concepts and tools. It could be in video or book form, preferably free, but I'd be willing to pay for something if I think it's really worth it. Thanks.

Have you looked through the "tutorials" forum? For basics I like Aidan Chopras videos. Then there is Go-To-School https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE310F9729A58B863
Dave Richards has many tutorials and lessons. http://www.finewoodworking.com/blog/design-click-build
I don't think there is one path from basic to advanced. It also depends on what sort of model you are trying to make, what you will use it for etc. Just visualization or plan out framing and more? Once you have the basics, methods will fall in place.

A couple more recommendations:
http://www.harwoodpodcast.com/ Click on the link for the SketchUp 3D Toolbox. If you already know the basics of SU, you might want to start with lesson #50
http://www.masterSketchUp.com also has some good tutorials (both written and video).

This book by Dennis Fukai is a classic and is specifically about step by step domestic construction.
