Mesh to bitmap
-
I was hoping to be able to convert a mesh made in Sketchup into a bitmap I might use as a Digital Elevation Model.
Is there a way to convert? -
You can File -> Export -> 2D... and choose a bitmap format?

You can control fog to make a depth map with a parallel projection. Your height map would be limited to black and white or fog/background color and you also can't export it as 16-32bit.
You can use a render engine like Thea to generate that depth map and export as 16-32bit format.

That is pretty cool but it's for normal maps wich are usually created for rendering.
I believe this has something to do with real maps (topography, geography, that sort of stuff)...
Are your maps color coded somehow? There is a color to height plugin somewhere but I don't think it would be accurate enough for what you need.
