DWG/PDF Export Bug (hidden lines artifact?)
-
Try the export after turning off Use Hardware Acceleration in Window>Preferences>OpenGL. You'll probably have to quit and restart SketchUp to make the settings take effect.
I doubt it is a bug.

This hardware accelleration problem sure seems like bug, Dave. Just because it's been this way for years doesn't make it acceptable. Why do users have to fiddle with this every once in a while? Why wouldn't a program take care of these problems by itself? I'm just wondering.
-
It's different for different GPUs and even different graphics drivers. How would you manage that on the SketchUp (or any program's) side? Would you test every single driver update for every GPU that comes out on all the various operating systems so you can make changes to the program and then issue maintenance releases every week or so? I sure wouldn't want to have to manage that.
-
So once you set it for your system it's good that way? Wonder why these settings aren't found in other programs and don't cause similar problems?
I wouldn't call it real bug, because there's a method for fixing it. Seems however rather than people needing to go online to a third party to find out why something is no longer working--SU program could say, "Hey we see that your output is coming out totally messed up. Try changing "hardware acceleration" settings, because WE don't know what to do.."
-
You shouldn't have to make adjustments for OpenGL more than once for a given version of SketchUp although I have had a few cases over the years where I needed to make a change after installing a new driver. These settings like nearly all others don't carry over from one SketchUp version to the next since each version is installed independently of any other versions you might have on the machine.

Thanks, Dave. That's the best info I've seen on this.

@Peter
on the mac version, SU does instal a file that changes internal settings for known 'graphic card' shortcomings...
It only covers 3 brands and a couple of versions, as that's all Apple uses...If your running an older version of SU on a newer OSX the hard coded checklist can be obsolete...
On a PC people can have whatever they want and need to update the drivers on a regular basis, making it very hard to pinpoint...
In the past I have needed to change the SU setting on a 'per model' basis, usually if there's a lot of curves...

John,
Thank you for that.
Peter, I should have mentioned that this tends to more of an issue for PC users since trying to pin down graphics cards would be like nailing jello to the wall. Between discrete graphics cards and integrated cards there would be too many possibilities to manage.

Hi guys and thanks for reply!
I've just tried to disable hardware accleration and restarting SU, but nothing changes.
Bug's still thereI've forgotten to mention my specs. I use SU Pro 2015 on a Dell XPS 15 9530 platinum:
Main Processor: Intel Core i7-4702HQ, 4 cores - 8 threads at 2,2/3,2 GHz
Graphics Processor: Nvidia GeForce 750M GT (2Go DDR5)
RAM: 16Go DDR3
Drive: Samsmung SSD MSATA 512GbI load SU on the Nvidia processor instead of Intel HD Graphics chipset.
Hope it will help! -
The bug is still killing my workflow... and it's even more noticable on this view (III).
I can't spend my days cleaning DWG... That's really annoying
