Vegetation to 3rd party?
-
Hi, I will like to learn how to add a lot of 3d vegetation to some of my sketchup models in a photorealistic manner. I'm not sure that even with the new vray 2.0 and proxys I could achieve it without having to worry about polygon count all the time.
Could you guys advice what third party software to use? I'm thinking something widely use, in a good price and not too difficult to learn. 3d max, Vue, LumenRT, Maya? I believe that will have to render there but would I be able to keep textures?
Thanks for any comment or advice. -
For modeling, I use a software called The Plant Factory, but it's a little on the pricey side. SpeedTree is very similar (better in some areas, worse in others), and is available on a monthly subscription for much less money.
You can then go on to export, and render in whatever software you want.

The poly count side of things is solved by turning your trees into proxies...

Thanks Ocean & Casca, yes I have looked at Plant factory and will check Speedtree, actually I'm not too concern about something a bit pricey as long as is good, widely used and not too complicate to learn.
Does proxy in sketchup solve the problem even if I use many different plants of 15mb + each? to be honest I have not used the new vray 2.0 yet.
Will be nice to make like a poll to see what people here are using to deal with photorealistic vegetation.
