Dimension leaders touching model
-
I noticed the other day that my dimension leader endpoints in 2015 are staying tight to the points on the sketchup model. In past versions of layout I thought there was a small but desirable gap between the end of the leader and the model content the leader was referencing. Anyone else experiencing this lack of gap or know how to get that back... also the dimension extensions are now pretty wild, would love to trim those back a bit. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

They extension lines don't have to touch the corners. It sounds as if you inadvertently modified the extension lines in your dimensions. You can edit the distance between the endpoints you're dimensioning and the start of the extension line. You can also edit the distance beyond the arrow where the extension line ends.
Double click on the dimension to open it for editing. Select the extension line you wish to change. To change the space between the corner and the extension line, change the Start Arrow size. To change how far past the dimension arrow the extension line extends, change the End Arrow size. You'll probably want both the same so edit the other one, too.
They don't have to be the same and they don't have to be just simple lines. It's subtle but the normal extension line is the second from the bottom of the list.
If you need to correct the dimensions in an existing file, edit one, sample it with the eye dropper and apply the changes to the rest by clicking on them. If you want to make the changes to dimensions going forward in the project, get the Dimension Tool, immediately hit S and then sample the dimension you edited.
If you've seen this in m ore than one LO project, you should check your template. The dimensions have probably been edited. Fix them and save as a new template.

Thanks so much for the thorough and thoughtful help, exactly what I was looking for! turns out my default dim style in my template had gotten wonky. Things are now looking as expected. Thanks again!
