Sketch Model moves in Layout After being updated
-
This seems to happen about half the time with me and I can't find any rhyme or reason for when it does or does not:
If I change the sketch-up file and then update in Layout, the sketch-up model moves to so random location on the page. And it's a different location every time. If I have any text attached with arrows, those are dragged with the model and I can, with a little care, bring the sketch-up model back to where it's supposed top be relative to all the LayOut stuff on the page. But it's a royal PITA to do this all the time.
I couldn't find a thread on this, and I assume I'm not the only one having trouble with this, so if someone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.
I'm using Version 8 on a Mac.
Thanks!

Do you have scenes in your SketchUp model that you have used for your viewports? Do your viewports in LO show the scenes as modified?

I had a bet with myself that this would have something to do with scenes. I don't usually set up a scene, since what I do is mostly floor plans and elevations. I never felt that I needed different scenes, but maybe I do...
Still, it's odd how this only happen some of the time, not all the time. I don't do anything differently.

If you don't use scenes, the the only thing you have for a viewport option is "Last Saved". If you move the camera or otherwise change the view in SketchUp before going back to LayOut, of course the model will appear to move in the viewport. If you expect the model to remain in the same location you must make a scene for that camera position.
Also make sure you don't open the viewport and zoom or otherwise modify the view. That'll create problems when you edit the model and want to see your changes in LO. In other words, don't allow the viewports to show as modified.

From what you described in your thread, yours is a different issue. If this answers your question, then your question should be revised.

Saving scenes in SU is the best way to make your life easy in LO.
