Virtual memory drive
-
Hi,
I red something concerning the advantage of a separate memory drive when using programms like photoshop. Is it the same for skp ?
I plan to add a 60go ssd only for virtual memory when skp works, for not surcharge
but I dont understand very well this subject, can you help me, give me more infos about it utility pls ? -
I remember years ago, with another less than optimal computer, I increased the virtual memory just to increase the size and quality of exported images from very large models; other than that, I don't remember it improving the speed of SU.

Unless you work with very large, complex models or simultaneously run a renderer, SketchUp is not a significant "memory hog" the way that PhotoShop is. And unless you significantly "overbook" memory by running too many programs at a time, you will probably not see much improvement in SketchUp from putting your VM onto an SSD (SSD will be much faster than VM on a hard drive, but except as noted SketchUp is usually not guilty of gobbling memory). In addition, if your computer can hold it, you will get a larger benefit from adding more RAM.
