there is something wrong with your instal...

            and, I just realised something...

are you trying to run SU v13 for the first time on Yosemite?

if so download v15 and I think it will run...

let me know, I have a hunch to what;s happening...

I have SU v13 on two Mac's computers. One is a MacBook Pro, and the other is on the MacMini. The program works fine on the MacBook, but my problem is on the MacMini. The program was installed on my MacBook before I upgraded to the Yosemite version. But I only installed the program on my MacMini after Yosemite was installed.

Is that what makes the difference? If so, can I corrected somehow?

              Many thanks for your help.

I think it may be that v13 needs Ruby 1.8, which Yosemite no longer supplies...

for some reason it only effects some mac's...

it may be an instal requirement in SU, as it works if it was installed 'before' Yosemite...

SU v14/v15 have there own Ruby so they should run fine...

If I downgrade my OSX to, say, Mountain Lion, will that version include Ruby 1.8? And if so, will it fix my problem?

I agree that it sounds like your installation is somehow broken. But I'd go the other direction and try upgrading to SU 2015 unless you either can't stand Yosemite or require Pro and can't afford the SU upgrade. SU versions before 2015 are not supported on Yosemite (there are some known issues with fonts that cause crashes). Also, SketchUp on Mac has always come with its own Ruby framework embedded inside the app bundle - I don't think it cares what the system has installed.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I've done some research, and Mountain Lion include Ruby 1.8.7.So, in your opinion, if I were to downgrade to Mountain Lion, would I need to reinstall SU, or would the problem probably be solved?

I agree with steve that your best option is to upgrade SU to v15...

if you really want to go back on the os, I would go no further then Mavericks...

One thing you could try is un-install the faulty SU and move a copy of the working version from the other mac...

                        it may work...
