Colors to group/layers...??

Hi All,
I have a huge SketchUp file, imported from an IFC file...
Unfortunately the layers are not imported, which makes it a tedious task to put various groups and objects into layers...Is there a plugin I can use, which will convert different colors into groups or even better into layers...??
All help is greatly appreciated!
