such a strange looking building.. i like it.

Very nice! Excellent re-creation!
-
very nice!
Did you have blueprints to remodel it?
-
A shame it was blown up. Looks like a very well designed building
-
Nice model, another piece of classic architecture lost due to conflict, sadly.
-
Indeed. I'm guessing it was used as an observation tower / sniper tower during WW2. Blowing up tall buildings was common because of this
-
Fantastic work!
It appears the brick structure forming the top of the arch is modeled as a separate group or component, as evidenced by the lines at the side and in the center of the arch - hide these edges to eliminate the lines so they appear continuous with adjacent faces.
Your brick texture is exhibiting the dreaded moire effect. Try exporting the image at as high a size as your computer will allow, and then reducing the image. That sometimes helps.

It's a Kaiser Wilhelm Tower, which were observation towers built across Germany as monuments to Kaisers Wilhelm I and Wilhelm II. I'm guessing, by how elaborate they were, that monument was the primary purpose, though. There are 14 towers still in good shape (4 have been renamed, such as the Grunewaldturm), and three in disrepair. Others, like this one, have disappeared.

Thanks for your comments!

I don't have a blueprint only old photos. I know it's not perfect texture. [LZ and Daniel] You're right, that was reason to blow up the lookout tower. -
That's pretty magnificent... Would love to see it in one of the photorenderers.

Love the revised images.

Great new images! Perfect setting and colors.

Nice improvements.

Beautiful if not awkward from a design view. Great model. I'd like it to have more bump and more displacement though.
