John, you really have to give people something to criticize, or at least the possibility of suggesting some way to make improvements to your models. Can't you screw up just a little bit? Just for fun?
-
Yeah yeah, so when are you going to model it?
Nah, well done again mate, your attention to detail is never faulting!
-
Thanks Steve and Richard, appreciated.
With a little sadness I've decided to make this my last gallery post, after six great years on the forum it's time to give you long suffering folks a rest .
Take care

JohnJohn, I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say....
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Oh, the humanity! -
Stupendously superb rendering. Is it of an actual building, or your own creation?
-
And I thought that you have just came back ! I was about to "Welcome back!" to you, and now you are leaving again !
What happened ? Why are you leaving something that you are clearly enjoying !?
Wish you the best though and visit us once in a while !! -
Beautiful, John! Keep it up. It gives us hope =!!!!!

No John, you can't leave. You promised to teach me everything you know about creating your incredible scenes.
You may not remember promising that, but you did. -
Wait! I see the flaw. Where's the Bentley?
-
Thank you all for the kind words.
Having become a little disillusioned with the Gallery of late decided to stop posting as I feel that I'm only posting every now and then for the sake of it. The fun aspect and participation seems to have dwindled a bit since I first stumbled across Sketchucation, although I still love Sketchup . Maybe things will change, I don't know, I'll still be on the forum (grrr I hear you all shout).
Steve there's nothing I could teach you about modelling!
Peter it would look good with the Mustang Boss off my site sat out frontJohn

Gorgeous as always!

Yeah, it seems like even though there are more members, there are less posters and certainly a lot fewer of the talented folks I first saw here.

John i'll be back soon to keep you company.

Hello Simon, It will be great to see you back posting again, your work is always top draw.
It may have been a personal rant above but I really feel that the gallery is falling way short of it's potential. There is so much scope to encourage newcomers to Sketchup and the gallery; model this, render this, group modelling, tutorials, different sections of interest ect...the list is endless.
Surely with 300k members it would not take a lot of encouragement? would itNow where did I put those blood pressure tablets....
John.

Couldn't agree more, John.
Not only the gallery but WIP and others too. Somebody can post a fantastic model, and while there may have been several hundred people who looked at it it seems it's always for the most part the same relatively small group of people who actually post comments. That can be discouraging for the person who took the time and trouble to make the model.
I've only been a member here for about four years, but I have noticed forum participation in that area seems to have been declining lately.
With over 300,000 members, I would imagine the vast majority are using Sketchucation for information and plugins and such, and probably there are a number of members who simply don't feel they are qualified or experienced enough to say anything about other people's work.
I haven't a clue as to how we might go about encouraging more forum participation from our many members. But then I haven't a clue about a vast number of things.
Not even sure if this is what you were talking about, but thought I would throw my two-cents worth in the ring.
I'll go back to sleep now

There are a lot of "passive" users who are searching for information and reading the forum topics (see discussion here), but I think it would be muss less users, if people like you didn't create so remarkable content. I'm reading through all new topics and don't have the time to answer a lot of them, but I often use the thumb to say "I was here and was amazed".

Thank you Steve, glad a couple of others feel as I do, it means I'm not cracking up alone. We have the best forum on the net with the best people, I'm proud to be part of that but everything can be improved. A few ideas to get more people "who wish" to participate would be great.
Thanks Carsten, no-one has any doubt about the contribution you bring to the forum and I realise that some folks simply don't have time.
thanks
