Weird transparency problems
-
Hey Sketchup community!
I have this weird? issue with how SU displays two components:
- draw vertical rectangle / push-pull about 30mm / make a group (referred as group1)
- draw another vertical rectangle on, but outside of group1, push pull that whatever the lengh, group that (referred as group2)
so now, when you orbit to face this side ->> |- , maybe slightly on an angle, group2's profiles becomes visible through group1's face !
Is it just me, or is it common ?
Kind of irritating when sheeting walls and studs come right shining through

I have edited my OpenGl and anti-alians properties, aswell as the style of current document. Even made a 'clean' style for a template... didnt help either.
Can anyone comment on this, please ?
Thank you.

The situation you describe is not a bug. It is typical behavior due to the way OpenGL works. In the situation you describe with sheathing over studs, when you soom back beyond a certain point, the sheathing isn't thick enough to mask the studs. OpenGL considers the inside and outside faces to be in the same plane and in the same plane as the outside surface of the studs. You'll notice as you zoom in, the display changes and the studs no longer show.
There are solutions to prevent the studs from showing through the sheathing. A common one and probably the easiest would be to put the framing groups or components on a layer separate from the sheathing. When you don't need to show the framing, turn that layer off.
