How 'clever' is CL3VER?
-
CL3VER (pun on the word 'clever' I understand) is a new new start-up, operating out of Barcelona, Spain and Palos Altos, California, that hopes to bring a new dimension of interactivity to 3D modelling across the web via their cloud-based application.
The company states,
'*The challenge
AEC projects often concern outside stakeholders that have no or limited technical understanding. These stakeholders include the client, governments, neighbors and even unions. Having them on board is essential since they have direct decision power or influence throughout the project lifetime. A simple and engaging presentation of the project that they can access and share at any time anywhere is a powerful tool to help them understand and promote your project. The solution
CL3VER enables AEC professionals to create interactive 3D project presentations and 3D virtual tours for web and mobile to get “buy in” from key stakeholders. CL3VER presentations are available on the web so that they can be seen in a meeting room, the construction site, an informal meeting at a café or shared in social media.
CL3VER presentations are based on native web technology letting them we integrated and shared via email, twitter facebook etc. This is helping Leading AEC firms communicate directly to the essential stakeholders to:
Win Bids and Contracts
Convince local governments
Engage local residents to get their approval for construction sites
Engage NGOs concerned with environmental impact of projects*'More details on CL3VER may be found here, http://stats.buysellads.com/click.go?z=1239210&b=4083985&g=&s=&sw=1280&sh=800&br=chrome,30,mac&r=0.5541982853319496&link=http://www.cl3ver.com/l/product/?section=1&utm_source=sketchucation.com&utm_medium=display&utm_content=general&utm_campaign=buysellads

Can you give us any details on what the 'new big release' will include?

Too bad its "subscription software".
Not interested. -
Hi Pixero, so you don't like cloud based services? Any specific reason for that? It would be nice for us to have a feedback on this if possible.
Best
-
I'd rather pay once and be able to use for as long as I wish than pay forever to be able to use something.
-
I understand, so it's just a payment problem. We also offer yearly payment so you don't have to care about anything during a whole year. Thanks for the feedback
-
I could see it having limited use on about 20% of our projects, being an excellent solution for about 2-3%, and pretty much pointless on the rest.
Therein lies the rub when it comes to a subscription; it's far from the only subscription-based service that would be useful at times, and those payments add up when you have a lot of them. It also means there might be months where we hardly touch it at all, but still end up paying full price for it.
-
Useful comment AirWindSolar. You say "limited use on about 20% of our projects, being an excellent solution for about 2-3%, and pretty much pointless on the rest." I would like to understand why it's pointless provide a 3D presentation or a configurator to clients. It may be a ROI (return on investment) problem?
As for the subscription based model I understand that having the possibility to unsubscribe for a certain period is not considered as an advantage right?
Thanks in advance for your contibution

I can't see how a web-based service can accommodate a one time payment, however. I have SW that has lasted beyond expectations. I know that some SW is just going to be defunct at some point if not updated (and supported). I like paying once on those. But a system that involves an online service from the start can't be expected to last indefinitely--therefore it is a monthly (yearly) service, just like Netflix. Like FormFonts. Perhaps someday there may be bargains for those who are really going to stick with it.

For the vast majority of our projects, there's just not a demand. I'd say around half don't even get a model that goes beyond dropping the components onto the satellite view of the property. It's only on the larger ones or the occasional personal challenge that the sales reps are going to dedicate the time to get me the extra measurements and other site info to model out the site and proposed systems to that level of detail.
For the most part, the construction stage amounts to having our guys fabricate trusses in-house, precut everything except the uprights, and then the onsite crew is just pouring footers, setting the posts plumb, trimming them level and assembling the rest of the structure from a fairly simple 4-5 page Layout document.
Except for those big ones, I just can't clear the time to add much detail to jobs, and those just aren't frequent enough to justify an ongoing monthly cost for more software that will add even more time to the process.

I understand better now and many thanks for the reply. I see here more potential for a online configurator that allow potential clients to configure/have an idea of the product and prices (but I think you prefer visit the place for a quote instead). Or you could use CL3VER to show your product and explain how they works including videos, images, panels and button.

Actually we have 20% discount for yearly payment http://www.cl3ver.com/pricing/

We have a webinar scheduled for 21st May where we will be teaching how to export your SketchUp models to CL3VER and create an interactive 3D presentation for the web.
More detailed information and registration is available at http://www.cl3ver.com/webinars/.This is a good occasion for skeptics or those that want to bring their SketchUp projects to live on web and mobile.
We hope to see you there

CL3VER is a web based App so browser based. You can use it on Windows or Mac using Google Chrome browser. All answers about compatibility are available at http://www.cl3ver.com/faq/ at the tab "System requirements".

Luca, I have downloaded and am using the FREE version. However, I am having problems getting my models to load correctly. I like what I see but cannot recommend purchasing it until I can build a presentation using one of my models. I tried emailing the support group but was told they do no provide support for the free version. I fully understand that but if I cannot get one of my models to load correctly, how do I proceed?
One of the other questions I have is about SketchUp scenes. Are they supported? If so, how do I get them to show up in the project?
Starting this afternoon, it "hangs" every time I try to load a model (including the sample models). I like what I see in the samples but cannot get to a good starting point.
BTW: I think the video in the webinar is provided me with more useful information that any of the other tutorials.
I really would like to make this work but the quote I have from the sales is $1,500 per year. That is a lot if I cannot even get a presentation going. The sales quote also says 48hr email support. If I am in a crunch to provide a presentation (which I anticipate happening more than once ), that is not very responsive. Have you given any thought to having a support team here in the U.S.? I think it might help your product sale.
