[REQ] FloorGenerator

I would like to have a script to create modelled floors and tiles.
I found this Maxscript that is free and am hoping someone with better coding skills than me could translate it (as much as is possible) into a SketchUp ruby script.
As SketchUp dont have multimaterials I'm thinking that you'd specify an amount of different materials that it would randomly apply to the tiles/planks.
What do you say?
-
I've also been trying to figure out methods of creating alternatives for what this script does... It would be a handy one for sure!
-
+10 This would be very handy indeed!
-
Great idea! Maybe this could be used similarly?

Hi guys,
I think that you may be looking for something I found here
http://sdmitch.blogspot.it/The plugin is named Tile&Brick+Wood (the third one from the bottom), I find it to be quite useful!
-
That's a good find Pibuz. You could get some great results when combined with the random texture plugin.
-
Indeed!
I also wrote to the author asking for some implementations, and he told me that he's thinking to widen the range of options for the wood section! Don't know his times though.. -
sdmitch has built tons of great stuff, he never toots his own horn though... This is a great little addition. Good find.
OOBLayouts does some similar stuff. it's a pay plugin though, $30.00

...and there soon will be one more great plugin....
Hint, hint. -
Schweeet. if someone is watching... variable depth of each tile would be awesome. then I could use it for 3D stone too.
-
Well that's the mother load that Pixero, myself and lots of others would like to see. Variable textures, depth, spacing and deformity would give us the kind of flooring/tiling needed for photoreal rendering. Currently you have to do that manually in SU and it's a real pain...,sorry I mean labour of love.
Fractal terrain eroder makes it a little less painful these days. I love that plugin!!!

Hint, hint.Do you have a slight idea how many are already working on one?
To avoid duplicates, I just ask: is anybody else working on it?
Otherwise I would do it. (This is just a mockup.)

I like the looks of that mockup Aerilius...
-
Wonderful!
-
@Aerilius: I think you have been PM'd.
