Organic Freeform Roofs
-
I am trying to learn Sketchup, I have SketchUp Pro 2013. I like to design modern homes like Architect Narendra Patel. A lot of my designs require curvy organic roof shapes which are not so easy for a newbie like me, so I am here reaching out to the Sketchup community of designers and Architect with much more knowledge than me for assistance.
I have added a link to some examples of the roofs I would like to learn how to create in a easy way. I am hoping there is some kind of Sketchup plugin that will make creating organic roofs easy. Here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/119010194@N07/
I have also added a pic of the current house I am working on.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Find my 'Extrude Toolset' Plugins and Fredo's 'CurviLoft' toolset + Lib...
These will let you define the 3d 'meshes' you crave.
To make them into 3d solid extrusions look at tools like Fredo's JointPushPull... -
Thanks Tig, I'll check those out.

Look also Tensile plugins structures "Soap Skin Bubble" & "Ferrari"

Cotty thanks for the example. WOW! That was awesome! That's just what I want to learn. Great example. I never thought to draw on a box first to get my shape.
Did you use CurviLoft to get the mesh?

As you can see in the video, only the Extrude toolset and the JPP plugin were used, but Curviloft should work too.

UPDATE!
I want to thank the Sketchucation website for a place for sketchup users to come together and share knowledge on many aspect of sketchup.
I have always loved organic architecture like what Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, and Guy Dreier create.
I would always imagine houses in a way that I don't see much of, and would make sketches of what I would see in my minds eyes but I was limited in what I could draw. Before I found out about sketchup three months ago my ideas were only in my head and some on paper, but now its like I have been given the keys to get them out in a way I never thought possible.
So I want give a special thanks to Tigs and Cotty for pointing me in the right direction, the video by cotty helped a lot and the tools recommended by Tigs were the right tools. Thanks
I have added some pictures of my test project house I call the Modern Bungalow I designed using the extrude tool, fredo scale, joint push pull and Kerkythea to render it. I also found a lot of new textures.
Thanks Again.
I am so excited about skectup and what it has allowed me envision
