What plugins do i need to model this cushion shape?
-
hi you all,
i need to model this cushion shapes in the attached pic.i tried to use fredo6's bevel tool but i think it's not the ideal way. i think i can use Artisan's subdivide and smooth tools for the job. but i want to know what other plugins that i need to create good geometry for the sub D modelling method? like what plugins can give me, add loop, loop slice, and better selection tools to manipulate the geometry? smart offset tools can be great right?my list of plugins for sub d modelling in sketchup:
- Artisan tools.
- smart offset.
3.better selection tools? don't know what plugins yet. - any fall off tools that can help move or scale geometry better.
5.maybe sketchyffd?
in short, what plugins for sketchup can mimic the sub d tools in 3ds max, modo, or any standard sub d modelling programs?
thanks. please help. i know this post is kinda confusing.

I have a feeling you can't miss Vertex tools and Selection toys, both by Thomthom...
The best plugin though, would be Blender! Of course it's not a plugin but it's free and you do have notion that your models will be hard to handle in SU, don't you? Better to make them outside and import them as proxies with your favorite renderer.
EDIT: Besides that there is also some plugins that will help you with what you want:
- Fredo Scale (scaling, stretching, bending and twisting shapes)
- Extrusion tools and Curviloft (for generating surfaces)
- Thrupaint and SketchUV for UV mapping, quadface painting, and even UV unwrapping with external apps like Roadkill.
There are more though I'm not really into that, I'm a boxy low poly guy myself...
