Sketchup Crashing - MAC Multiple-windows

hi you all, i tried to open two sektchup files at the same time. as soon as i copied an object or two from one file to another, sketchup crashed. it's frustrating. is it because my graphics card, or i havn't set the best setting to maximize my computer power?
one trick i did was i change one of the two files to display wireframe mode and it didn't crash. i wonder if 3ds max will crash under the same circustances. or just sketchup easier to crash?
