3ds models for sketchup, can't work??!

hi you all, i needed a model in 3ds format, and before it seemed to crash my sketchup. do i have to tweak the import option when i importing the 3ds model into sketchup? thanks.
ps. i need an upholstery model and i couldn't find an ideal one in sketchup format.
