How to creat spot light behind screen ceiling effect

Hello friends,
I am wondering how to create this nice spotlight effect that happens when the are paced behind screens/louvers. How do i get that washed up bright light effect if i am using black fins/louvers? I have attached a few pictures that might help explain what I am trying to achieve.
