Sketchup crashes
-
I am a highschool student doing a sketchup project at my school. My school has just got sketchup and is using me to test the program before they use it in their curriculum.
My project is a 3d floorplan of a 100' by 80' mancave previously done on cad. I am about halfway done the project but as I was finishing the weight rack the program slowed down considerably and it took about 15 seconds to save,
Now when I save or the auto save kicks in, sketchup crashes for about 15 mins. My school is small and our tech teacher told me to google for the solution as their is nothing he could really do.
(file is too big for attachment, I will upload snapshot pictures of the project)

How big is the SketchUp file?
What happens after you go to Window>Model Info>Statistics and click on Purge Unused?
-
How complex are the dumbbells? Are they components?
From what you have said it seems something with the weights has caused the issue. Try copying the weights rack and pasting into another file. If it takes forever, that may be your cause.
Anyway, copy and paste into a new file and save. Delete the weights from your original scene, PURGE UNUSED, then try and save again. That way you can see if the weights rack has caused a problem. A model like yours should not take long to save and should be very small in file size.
Do what Dave said first though.

I agree with the above. Make sure you're doing an occasional purge.
To Purge...
go to...
Window => Model Info => Statistics => Purge Unused (at the bottom)While you're there, you might as well click 'fix problems' too for good measure.

I also recommend the purge all plugin. My most frequently used plugin.
