Safe/proper way of 'moving' my SU installation
-
I have a hard drive on a verge of collapse so need to install the OS and all the programs on a new one. Is there a way I can properly 'copy' my current SU installation, especially all the plugins/extensions/things. I reckon it wouldn't be a very pretty thing to just copy the plugins folder, right.... ? :
Thanks for reading and or answering

If the existing drive is dependable enough for a short period and you can install the new drive at the same time, you can migrate the contents from the original to the new drive. I did this when I replaced my C drive with a new solid state drive and I had very good luck with that process. Everything made the transition without a problem. The migration software was downloaded from Microsoft.
If you decide to treat the computer as new with the new drive installed, you'll have to reload the operating system and everything else. If you go that router you should download a fresh copy of SketchUp and install it. If you are using the same version of SketchUp, copy the Plugins, Materials, Styles and Components folders and paste them into the new installation. It'll be fine. If you decide to upgrade to SU2013 then do not copy the plugins over from the old Plugins folder. Instead download them fresh. Styles, Materials and Components can be copied over, though.
